Lessons
We offer four lesson programs – the Online Instructor Lesson Program for distance learners, the Traveling Instructor Lesson Program for riders in the Front Range area of Colorado, the Foundation Rider Lesson Program that gets riders up to speed for the Balance-Center-Connect Riding Program, and the Balance-Center-Connect Riding Program itself. This last program includes the biomechanical analysis along with in-person or long-distance lessons.
Online Instructor Lesson Program. Now you can get a riding lesson and professional feedback from an instructor no matter where you live! Send video or photographs of yourself at a walk and trot/jog (and canter or lope if you’re comfortable at that gait) to Anne Belasco. She will send you a report analyzing the positions and balance of your hands, feet, back, seat, and head, and explain how you can improve your riding. This one-time lesson — that can be repeated however frequently you want — provides feedback and suggestions for improvement to riders who haven’t got access to an instructor nearby or who can’t afford long-term lessons. The cost is $39. To enroll, email Anne so she can tell you how to submit images.
Traveling Instructor Lesson Program. If you live along the Front Range of Colorado, Anne may be available to travel to your facility to teach you about balance, center, and connection, no matter your riding level or discipline. Whether you ride at home, are at a barn without a trainer, or you do not feel comfortable with the trainer at your barn, Anne can provide you with personal lessons on your own horse. Email her today to discuss your situation and to set up your first lesson.
Foundation Rider Lesson Program. If you are a new rider, returning rider, or a rider with challenges such as health problems or fear, you are invited to take Foundation Rider lessons before you start the Balance-Center-Connect Riding Program. Foundation Riders take lessons on a weekly basis (additional lesson times may be available if requested) either at our ranch near Calhan, CO, or at their own facility. We focus on the basics of riding until you reach a point of being able to walk and trot on a horse securely, safely, and with confidence. Then you can be meaningfully assessed videographically and can advance into the Balance-Center-Connect Riding Program.
Balance-Center-Connect Riding Program. The lesson portion of the Balance-Center-Connect Riding Program can be performed in-person or long-distance. If you are located in the Front Range area of Colorado (Ft. Collins to Pueblo), you can choose to have an analysis done and then continue with in-person lessons with Program Director Anne Belasco, Esq. at our ranch near Calhan, CO or at your barn or facility (mileage fees may apply). If you wish to participate in this lesson program, you can choose to have additional biomechanical analyses done every 6 weeks.
Each lesson is one-hour, private, and costs $50. The focus of each session is to learn balance, center, and connection, so participating in this lesson program compliments any riding discipline. If you’re currently taking lessons in a specific discipline, you can continue to do so and add what you learn in this program to your toolkit to be a better rider.
While the program is tailored for in-person participation by riders in the Front Range area of Colorado, a lesson plan may be worked up for you if you do not live in the area. Options such as a written lesson plan based on your biomechanical assessment and webcam lessons are available.
This program allows you, among other things, to:
- Learn to have a solid seat so that you can stay on your horse’s back more easily
- Have a healthier horse because you will be working with your horse instead of in unconscious opposition by being unbalanced, uncentered and unconnected
- Advance in your chosen field of riding, from riding more difficult trails that require you have a more secure seat to moving up in the dressage levels
- Have a better relationship with your horse as you learn how to be more connected to your horse
Please call (719-347-3090) or email Anne to set up your first in-person lesson (either as a Foundation Rider or after your biomechanical analysis is completed) or discuss the possibility of a long-distance learning program tailored just for you. Please leave a message if you get the machine as we may be out teaching or working with horses. Call or email today as space is limited in the program.
