Tapestry Institute is a unique nonprofit corporation that works within Indigenous Earth-based worldview to explore and reweave modern society's connection with nature. Tapestry brings together Indigenous and non-Indigenous scientists, educators, artists, writers, film makers, elders, clinicians, and others who are experts in their fields in a collaborative, Indigenous, land-based meeting environment to produce media such as books, websites, and videos, as well as events such as workshops and conferences, that explore the human-nature connection. Combining ways of knowing used for thousands of years by Indigenous cultures worldwide with modern technology, Tapestry offers a unique process to help people in modern society rediscover their connection to the earth.
We also produce information on our websites that you can access for free to better understand your relationship with the natural world. Our main site provides you with information concerning the different ways of knowing and learning, worldview, the Sacred Circle, the land, and story, all of which are integral parts of how we work. The Digital Library of Indigenous Science Resources, a work in progress, provides you with free access to many online articles and websites that contain important information about Indigenous Science. The Voice of the Horse is the weblog for our Horse-Human Relationship Program and provides you with new insight into that relationship from an Indigenous worldview perspective and by using all the different ways we know about, learn from, and relate to horses.
Our websites are rich with information concerning our worldview, the ways we work, and the programs we run. We ask that you slow down from your busy modern life and take the time to read our words.
