This article is the first in a series of papers published by Harrison John Adams (Choctaw), Chinese name Qiu Lisen 邱里森, style name Boye 伯野, Dharma name Zhenru 眞如. He is a scholar of Traditional and Classical Asian Cultural Studies. We are publishing his work on the Daodejing, of which this is a part, because this famous and ancient classic text specifically explores the relationship between humans and the natural world.
